Howling At The Moon And Snowshoeing

When's the last time you took a moonlit walk with snowshoes strapped to your feet? Next week you'll get your chance if you sign up for the Full Moon Snowshoe Hike at Lebanon Hills Regional Park. Lebanon Hills Park is a hidden gem in Dakota County, with miles of cross country, hiking and snowshoeing trails. The park is located at 860 Cliff Road, Eagan, MN.

On Friday, January 25th, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM there will be a guided snowshoe hike under the full moon. There's also a beginner cross-country ski lesson for adults scheduled for Sunday, January 20, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Registration is required for both events, and equipment is included in the registration fees. Can't make the sessions? You can rent equipment at Lebanon Hills and explore when your schedule allows.

So, if you're tired of feeling cooped up inside this winter, get some warm clothes on and head out to Lebanon Hills to make the most of this season.

Learn more about the programs offered at the park by visiting their calendar here.

Holy Snow Angel!

Christina trying to be angelic.
There are plenty of ways to have fun in the snow we have recently received! For example, you could make a snow angel like your leasing agent Christina, who made a snow angel in Lexington's backyard!

Snowshoeing at Afton State Park.

Get your snowshoes on and check out Afton State Park located at 6959 Peller Avenue South in Hastings. This state park is nestled on the wooded bluffs along the St. Croix River. Afton State Park has four miles of designated trails where snowshoers can venture anywhere in the state park, except on the groomed ski trails.
Sledding at Henry Sibley High School.

Pack up your sled to head down the street off Hwy 110 and Delaware to Henry Sibley High School and check out their huge sledding hill! In the back of the high school facing Hwy 110 they have a HUGE sledding hill. Bring some friends and family with delicious hot chocolate, and warm clothes to enjoy the winter fun of sledding!
Ice rink at Marie Park.

Did you know Mendota Heights has an outdoor skating rink? Off Marie Ave. at Marie Park you can grab your ice skates and skate away! When you are ready for a break enjoy the warming house to toast your cold fingers and toes. Do you need ice skates? You can pick some up at the Play it Again Sports in West St. Paul or Eagan.

Marie Park is just off Marie Avenue!
Winter life in Minnesota is quite wonderful when you have all of these fun activities to enjoy. With all of these places so close to Lexington Heights Apartments, our community is an excellent place to live - especially in the wintry weather!

School District 197 Levy on November 8 Ballot

Mendota Heights is part of school district 197, which has a levy referendum on the November 8th ballot. The question asks District 197 voters to decide "whether or not to approve a new ten-year operating levy that renews an existing levy expiring in 2012 and provides additional funds to maintain current offerings, help offset projected deficits, and allow for investments focused on improving academic achievement that can also yield cost savings in the future."

For more information on the levy, click here: Levy Referendum 2011 - Overview

Lexington Heights residents can vote at Mendota Elementary, 1979 Summit Ln., Mendota Hts., MN 55118
